OUR MISSION

PlantCon International was created to fortify and bolster local plant communities across the nation by providing horticultural education and exposure, promoting horticultural appreciation, and providing a hub for connection, intellectual exchange, and otherwise impossible connections to be formed between local businesses, community members, and industry leaders.

These connections, formed in a microcosm that is uniquely PlantCon, drive the world of plants forward and create enduring partnerships and friendships whose effects grow to benefit the plant world as a whole.

Our Story

Our beginnings - 2020

We started doing local plant meetups in November 2020 that served as safe, outdoor gathering spaces for our community to meet and get to know the faces behind the profiles (a feeling I’m sure we’re all too familiar with!) Eventually, this grew to incorporate and centralize in-person plant selling, community workshops, and a consolidated time and place for purge pickups in parking lots around Houston. Several sellers would purge throughout the week and then all come to Houston Plant Market so their buyers could pick up from one place rather than having to drive around town.

Houston Plant Market - 2022

We’re currently the official and exclusive contractors for all of the City of Houston’s Downtown farmers markets and plant markets. We also do other themed events like holiday markets and block parties. Since our inception, we’ve hosted over 100 events and pride ourselves on our ability to mobilize and innovate to pull off some pretty spectacular events that benefit the local community!

PlantCon - 2023

We’ve always loved centralizing communities to help create more accessible experiences for their members, and this spirit is what led us to launch PlantCon. We want to bring thousands of hobbyists, hundreds of sellers, and dozens of plant organizations to one place each year so that you don’t have to pick between the different events hosted in different places each year by different plant organizations. We resolve to represent and include all of these institutions under one centralized event to help you get to know all of them in an effective and affordable way.

Thank You, Houston.

It’s thanks to the support of our local businesses that we’ve been able to make it this far in our journey. To honor our community, we want to include them in this event and showcase their work and talent alongside the huge plant sellers we’ll also have attending like Ecuagenera!
